Mackenzie Announces State Grant for Lower Saucon Township Renovation Project
5/25/2021
HARRISBURG – Rep. Milou Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton) today announced the awarding of $75,562 in state funding to assist with a building renovation project in Lower Saucon Township, Northampton County.

Specifically, the grant will be used by the township for interior renovations to Seidersville Hall, including repairs to the walls and ceilings and the replacement of some doors. The project also calls for building code updates and new electrical fixtures, including LED, and the closing-off of the unused basement level to aid in heat loss prevention. The historic building is home to the township’s senior citizen and summer youth programs.

“Building costs are rising for small municipalities across Pennsylvania, so it is important that programs like this are available to help ensure these important local projects can move forward,” said Mackenzie. “I am happy the renovation work at Seidersville Hall was approved for funding and look forward to its completion.”

The grant was made available through the Monroe County Local Share Account (LSA) which is supported by gaming revenues. LSA funds may be used for economic and community development projects in Monroe, Lackawanna, Northampton, Pike and Wayne counties.

The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
