Mackenzie Announces DCNR Grant Awarded to Upper Hanover Township
HARRISBURG - State funding has been awarded for a recreational improvement project in Montgomery County, according to Rep. Milou Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton), who played a role in securing the grant.
Upper Hanover Township was awarded $58,200 in funding for restoration of 1,700 feet of Perkiomen Creek in Camelot Park. The grant will fund streambank stabilization; installation of fish habitat structures, riparian forest buffer; project sign and other related site improvements.
“This funding for Perkiomen Creek in Camelot Park is an essential asset to helping keep our park clean and beautiful,” said Mackenzie. “The beauty of our area is highlighted, and it attracts visitors, stimulates investment and provides recreational opportunities for all.”
The funding was made available through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2), which is administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).
C2P2 grants were created to promote conservation and recreation-focused projects and programs. They are awarded to municipalities and authorized nonprofit organizations for recreation, park and conservation projects. Funding is generated from a portion of the realty transfer tax, the Environmental Stewardship Fund, fees for ATV/Snowmobile licenses and federal monies.
