HARRISBURG – Rep. Milou Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Northampton/Montgomery) today announced the awarding of more than $1.6 million in state funding for economic development and transportation projects in the 131st Legislative District. Mackenzie played a key role in securing the grants for the projects. 
 
“I am confident these grants will help ensure community improvements for our district and residents,” said Mackenzie. “I am ecstatic that we have received this important and crucial funding.”  
 
The following projects were awarded grants through the Multimodal Transportation Fund: 
Green Lane Borough – $500,000 to pave multiple roads. 
Borough of Coopersburg – $130,755 for intersection and sidewalk improvements.

The following projects were awarded grants through the Local Share Account (LSA) statewide program: 
Salisbury Township – $120,518 for police department technology upgrades. 
Coopersburg Borough – $52,151 for the purchase of a new police cruiser and vehicle equipment upfitting. 
Salford Township – $300,000 to update traffic control devices. 
Pennsburg Borough – $151,000 for the purchase of public works equipment. 
Upper Montgomery Joint Authority – $149,952 for wastewater treatment plant improvements. 
Lower Saucon Township – $200,000 to replace playground equipment at the Town Hall Park. 
 
The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth. LSA grants are derived from gaming revenues.
