HARRISBURG – Rep. Milou Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton) is pleased to announce $49,000 has been awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) Veterans’ Trust Fund (VTF) to expand veteran services in the 131st District over the next two years.
“I am grateful that this critical funding has been secured to support veteran initiatives in the 131st District. This funding will help to expand critical outreach services to veterans, and I was pleased to offer my support for these helpful grants,” said Mackenzie. “Each grant signifies a commitment to ensure our veterans thrive, from housing to transportation and beyond. Together, we can honor their sacrifices by building a brighter future.”
DMVA has directed grant funding for new, innovative, or expanded programs or services provided by county directors of veterans affairs or the Pennsylvania Association of County Directors of Veterans Affairs. The area of emphasis for grantees in this category was veterans’ outreach.
Grant funding was awarded as follows:
• Montgomery County Office of Veterans Affairs: $2,500 to support and expand outreach services to veterans, and $12,500 to provide transportation services to veterans.
• Veterans Brotherhood, Pennsburg (Montgomery County): $34,000 to provide housing services to veterans.
The VTF is funded by generous Pennsylvanians who voluntarily make a $5 donation when applying for or renewing their driver’s license, photo ID or a motor vehicle registration.? Additionally, the VTF receives proceeds from the sale of the?Honoring Our Veterans?and?Honoring Our Women Veterans?license plates and private donations. Since the grant program began in 2013, a total of $7,482,860?has been awarded to organizations that serve Pennsylvania veterans.
