Mackenzie Announces Preservation of 22 Acres of Farmland in 131st District
June 16, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Milou Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton) is pleased to announce the permanent preservation of a farm in the 131st District through Pennsylvania’s Farmland Preservation Program.
The 22-acre crop and livestock farm owned by Robert A., Patricia M., and Samuel J. Borneman in Upper Hanover Township, Montgomery County, will now be safeguarded from residential and commercial development, ensuring the land remains dedicated to agriculture.
“Preserving farmland is critical to sustaining our agricultural heritage and supporting local food production,” said Mackenzie. “This program helps protect the rural character of our communities while providing farmers with the stability they need to continue their important work.”
This preservation effort is part of a recent State Agriculture Land Preservation Board vote to protect 2,672 acres across 35 farms in 18 counties throughout the Commonwealth.
With this action, Pennsylvania’s Farmland Preservation Program now safeguards 6,564 farms totaling 654,551 acres statewide, maintaining the state’s leadership in farmland conservation.
