August 21, 2026

HARRISBURG, PA – Rep. Milou Mackenzie announced $560,000 in PAsmart grants awarded to three organizations serving the 131st Legislative District to expand career and technical education and workforce training opportunities.

The funding was awarded to:

   • Lehigh Carbon Community College – $140,000
   • Lehigh Career and Technical Institute – $140,000
   • Montgomery Community College – $280,000

“Career and technical education gives students and workers the practical skills they need to succeed while helping employers find the skilled workforce they need,” said Mackenzie. “I am pleased to see this funding expand career training opportunities in our communities and help prepare Pennsylvanians for good careers.”

The grants are part of a statewide $3.5 million PAsmart investment supporting 17 organizations. Locally, funding will help Lehigh Career and Technical Institute prepare students for the growing use of artificial intelligence in the regional workforce and allow Montgomery Community College to expand evening welding training for adult learners.
